Resurgence of Riso

Risographs orginated in Japan in the middle of the 20th century. It gets its name and style from the “Riso” brand of image duplicators. These machines only print one color at a time, and work very similarly to a mimeograph in that they create a stencil that the ink is forced through onto the paper. This results in a layered aesthetic and unique dotted texture. Risoprints have seen a resurgence in the last few years, and a new generation of artists and designers are diving into this unique printing medium. Here are a few that I think are killing it.
